The first Thai contestant who successfully solved the 21 puzzles also wins a special prize from Volvo Car (Thailand)

Volvo Car Corporation named Russian treasure hunter 23-year-old Alena Zvereva, as the winner of this years colossal month long online game “The Hunt” inspired by Disney’s blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean At World’s End”. Ms. Zvereva will bring back home over THB 5 million worth of treasure, including US$ 50,000 in gold doubloons and the key to a brand new Volvo XC70 (the prize car offered in Russia).

The wildly popular Hunt attracted more than 32,000 active online contestants from 22 countries around the world. Participants solved a series of puzzles that led to a semi-final round, Puzzle 21: World’s End, posted online on May 31. The first contestant from each country to submit the correct answer then went on to compete in the final leg, on-line head-to-head. All participating markets were represented in the final leg with the exception of Italy, who didn’t have a participant submit a correct semi-final answer within the designated time limit.

Geranun Jiraboonyanon The finalist of Thailand. At the final leg, Volvo had to declare a “do over” in the hunt after all 21 finalists failed to solve the final puzzle within the given 24 hour time limit. On June 5, a second final leg was called, and Ms. Zvereva was the first to recover the treasure chest.

Mr. Paul Stokes, President of Volvo Car (Thailand) Ltd., said, “Our Hunt has been tough from the beginning. All the contestants have formidably demonstrated their analytically sharp minds and amazing puzzle-solving skills at every twist and turn involved in the competition. We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to all the 21 finalists, especially to Ms. Zvereva who finally outperformed all the other contestants and successfully claimed the precious treasure and of course congratulations to Khun Geranun Jiraboonyanon who made us all proud when he represents Thailand in the global final.”

The most authentic and exciting promotion of the year will be accomplished with the retrieval of treasures included $50,000 in pirate gold and a new Volvo XC70 in the Atlantic Ocean which will be conducted exclusively for The Hunt’s winner Alena Zvereva soon.

Globally The Hunt attracted 2.3 million visits from 1.7 million unique visitors to the game website. Thailand was the most active South East Asian market with 51,665 unique visitors and, well over 2,500 active gamers who joined The Hunt. Some 200 completed all 21 puzzles and finally, Khun Geranun Jiraboonyanon was the first to conquer all 21 puzzles within the permitted time to become the sole Thai contestant to compete in the Final Leg. To celebrate his exceptional puzzle solving skills and sharp mind, Volvo Car (Thailand) Ltd. has prepared a very special prize for him and his family of a two day trip in a new Volvo XC90 D5 to the Dusit Resort Pattaya, a 8GB iPOD Nano, a radio controlled ‘Volvo S60’ car and more.
